Exhaust Fan Control Switch with Electronic Delay Timer
The exhaust fan control switch is ideal with its electronic delay timer that turns the fan and light on simultaneously while offering an electronic, automatic delay timer that allows the user to turn the light off while the fan continues to operate for an additional 20, 40, or 60 minutes before automatically turning off. The duration of operation time for the fan can easily be adjusted with the touch of the electronic button.

Nice product, functions efficiently, but...Just be aware that the fan and light are not on independent switches. You must turn on the light in order to activate the fan and once activated, you can not turn the fan off--it runs for whatever amount of time you have set on the timer--20, 40, 60 minutes. (You can, of course manually turn light off.) Again, this might work great for some, I really don't like this aspect--my fault, I should have read the description better.
Polite and prompt customer service.

Not a great switch:(Two reasons for not liking this switch:
1. The way the switch/timer works for the fan unit does NOT allow the client to turn the fan off even if they want to. The fan will only turn off once the timer has cycled thru to the end of the time selected. We installed (2) of these switchs in a client's house. In the Kid's Bathroom...the client's liked this feature because it meant they didn't have to worry about whether or not their kid's were leaving the fan on long enough....this was a good thing. For their own Mastr Bath they felt this was a little frustrating.
2. The switch we installed in the Mstr Bath stopped functioning properly.....wouldn't turn off at all....the day after being installed. I assume it was just a defective switch....does not mean they are not well made...switch in the Kid's Bath is working just fine.
You will have to decide if this switch works for your situation.

works well but...I installed the control switch after installing a vent fan and I not sure I like it. I have since taken this switch out and replaced it with simple toggle switches so I can have better control on the lights and fan. While an automatic timer is nice that can just walk away from it. I found that often I didn't need the fan sucking out warm house air when I only needed the light on for a short time. I may put it back in if I find that I am leaving the fan on way longer than needed.

Pay attentionDoes it work - yes BUT.... Its not intuitive to shut the fan off. You have to press the toggle switch for Light/Fan while the light is on, turn light off, wait the 20 minutes to verify the fan does go off for the time selected (lowest unit 20 minutes). If done while the light is off, the toggle is ignored. There is no visual feedback that shows whether auto timeout is selected. With 2 young boys that constantly "touch", we find that the fan remains on because they've fooled with the switches, so much for trying to be energy efficient. It would have been better to have just an ON/OFF switch for the fan, than try an tie it with the light on/off.

Solid PurchaseLove the delay timer. Don't have to worry about the kids forgetting to turn it off and burn the vent out. The only downfall is that you are not able to shut the vent off if you just need to turn on the light to get something in the room; the vent will continue to run the full cycle.

glad I chose to get this itemVery good idea to have this with my shower fan. Just make sure you use a deep box when installing. Everything works as advertised. The lady I ordered this thru was extremely helpful and when I had to call Air King about a technical
question, their engineer was right on the money with advice.

Can this product run constant?
A. The Air King AKEDT2 should be able to run constantly with no problem.
We are purchasing Air King AKF80LS. Does this switch run the light and night light along with the fan and timer?
A. It is recommended to put the night light on a separate switch, otherwise it will come on simultaneously with the light. Fan & light come on with one switch, after switch is off the fan can stay on for a timed period.
Can the AKEDT2 control the two lights individually? I.E. can we control the nightlite alone using this swithch?
A. The Air King AKEDT2 will turn the light and fan on simultaneously but has a timer that the fan will stay on as the light turns off. the night light will not be operated by this switch individually from the fan.
Can I install the AKEDT2 in a two gang box and use a decora plate?
A. Yes, the Air King AKEDT2 can be installed in a standard ganged switch box and it will fit a decora switch plate cover.
