Can this diverter shutoff the hand held head & allow flow thru the fixed head ?

A. This diverter only allows you to use one function at a time. You can either have the shower head on or the hand held.

How do you switch between shower head and handheld--I don't see a button to turn it on and off?

A. The American Standard 1660.410 diverts the water by twisting the large valve opposite where the hose is connected too.

Is the water inlet the female side; or can the male side be used as an inlet?

A. The American Standard 1660.410 does have an inlet for the female side, the male side can be used as an inlet if you have a coupling device. Please let me know if you do have any further questions.

A. The American Standard 1660.410 is set up so that the water inlet is on the female end. The male end can not be used as the water inlet.
