American Standard 2004.014 Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from We Love Them We had five, thirty-year-old toilets that we'd tried to save by redoing the innards. After three years of limping along and double flushing, all the time, we broke down and bought five of these, after some serious research. They have already saved us money on our monthly, water bill and they are working very well for us.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the product. The Champion 4 is, actually and surprisingly, much prettier than the pictures show. It is also very quiet and recovers quickly. I had previously purchased the Kohler one piece, Cimmaron. Even though we like the Kohler, we prefer the AS both aesthetically and performance wise. The AS Champion 4 is a great value for the money.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great toilet......what no seat? overall a great toilet flushes great, nice compact and easy to clean......the only reason I wouldn't give it 5 stars is it doesn't come with a seat. I know now that apparently that's common? but for $350 bucks give me a seat!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good but squeaky handle like the looks. works well. flusher handle is very squeaky. AS sent replacement no hassle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lives up to the hype I bought two of these a couple of months ago and they are working as advertised. I have never had to flush more than once. They are heavy and solidly built. I purchased the installation option and I am very glad I did. The plumber earned his fee installing these. It was also cheaper than finding a plumber after they were delivered. After reading the other reviewers comments about the slow close seat, I opted for the molded wood seat. It is a perfect fit and like the toliets is solidly built. There is no worry about drying your feet on the top and having them crash through. All around a smooth purchase. Faucet Direct was very helpful. The toliets and seat work fine and the installation was very professional.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice design. Doesn't function that well. I do not think the description of this toilet mentioned that it was eco friendly, meaning that it uses less water than normal, but it seems to be like that. I was trying to avoid an eco friendly toilet because while they do save water, they do not provide neither an efficient, nor a clean/neat flush. The flush mechanism of this toilet, is not like the common one, where the water flows from the rim down, swirling towards the drain. Instead most of the water jets from the center of the bowl with some water streaming from the rim. Needless to say, skid marks remain, and as you can imagine, this is very annoying. The flush doesn't help maintain the bowl clean. Bowl must be brushed after each #2. The flush makes a loud noise at the beginning of the flushing process, when the water "bubbles" up from the center of the bowl with pressure, but it's brief. It doesn't bother me, but it would wake someone up if a bedroom is too close to the bathroom. The design is very nice and modern looking. However, this model presents flaws in the finishing. They skipped the process of painting and glossing the rim of the tank and it is noticeable even with the lid cover on (picture included). They also skip painting and glossing right under the rim of the bowl. This is the most difficult part to clean, and where all kinds of germs can grow. I asked American Standard's customer service line if this was a product defect and was told it was not, that they don't spray paint there so not to clog the little holes where the water flows from. However, I've seen other brands of toilets that do paint and gloss this part of the bowl. I simply think it's to reduce cost by cutting corners. I decided to purchase this toilet after seeing a video on youtube, explaining the strong flush that avoids clogs. So far, this toilet has not clogged.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice! It's a toilet - nothing to get too excited about. Install was easy and the flush is great.
