Hello. I want to install a fixed shower head and a separate handshower. Instead of using a diverter, I want to be able to turn the water on/off at the handshower. What valves and trim would I need?

The American Standard 1660.410 would allow you to divert the water at the shower arm. A feature like turning the handshower on/off at the unit is going to depend on what unit you have.
