From the interior of the door my hinges are on the right and the end or point of the handle would be pointing towards the hinges. Is ordering a left handed lever correct?

Yes, That would be a left handed door. Generally speaking you would gage handing by standing on the Exterior of the door. If the hinge is to your left it is a left handed door.
