Electronic Variable Speed Control Switch
This variable speed control (the white version of the 57 control; 57V is ivory) looks and performs perfectly in every way. Notice that it requires a wallplate with a Decora hole; it comes with a 1-hole wallplate, but if you're installing it in the same box as one or more other switches or outlets, you'll need to get a multi-gang wallplate with a Decora hole for the 57, and of course with the matching color. This control works with any exhaust fan, but not with ceiling fans.

Excellent Product, Great Price
This is a great product with easy installation. It is not bulky like a dimmer that takes up all the room in your electrical box. I highly recommend this for a powerful fan as you can control the speed. It is variable speed also, not just high and low. We use it on high to remove excess hairspray for my wife, use a lower speed to remove steam during a shower. We are very happy our sales associate recommended it. We will be installing these in our other bathrooms as well.

Check your application
This switch is fine, but not for the Broan 12C, which has a motor operated outside door. When the power is reduced to the fan, the door closes, rendering the fan useless. We ended up installing a standard on/off switch.

This speed controller is more than a simple "dimmer/resistor" device. It operates well and allows the user to nicely contol the noise level of the small Broan exhaust fan. It probably has circuitry that controls the voltage to the motor.
At first a concern was that when switched "on", the fan ran at high speed until the dial was turned fruther. However, that first high speed opens the fan damper blades and then it is slowed to the desired speed - a good feature.

Smooth variable fan control
It's made by Broan so you know it is quality made. Comes with everything but your choice of box to mount it in. I used this as a speed limiter on a floor fan that was ridiculously fast no matter which of the 3 speeds I put it on. I tapped this into the main power going to the fan and left the fan on High. Worked great. Just make sure the fan you hook it up to does not draw any more the the switches 3 amp rating.

Switch not Working
I installed the switch in Sept 2012 for it to "pop" in January 2013. On the back of the switch you can see a burn spot. Not sure what happened. I was cooking and it was running then Pop! Now I have a $1 light switch from home depot on it and it works great but I hope Broan has a warrantee. Defects happen all the time. I just hope they replace this one

Nice little unit
I did a little research before I bought this unit and the reviews were positive so I went ahead and got one and it was easy to hookup and it works fine. It is a little loud when its on high. Works as advertised.

Great Noise Solution
We replaced our four bath fan switches with the variable speed switch. Installation was a snap, quality and appearance excellent and the noise factor was significantly improved.

Switch has a nice feel to it. Clicks on high at first- which is good for the fan motor.
