noisy motor The electric motor in this unit had an unacceptably loud "hum" over and above the exhaust fan sound . The exhaust fan noise was fine and as expected according to the rating of the unit . I returned the unit according to instructions received from Ventingdirect ( or Broan ? ) and have received credit for the price of the unit and the shipping charges . I also re-ordered the same model unit to see if there would be an improvement in the electric motor . There is a distinct improvement , but their electric motor still has a noticeable "hum" . I have an older different model Broan exhaust fan which has the same sound rating , and there is a distinct difference in the sound level between the older exhaust fan and this new model . I am replacing my bathroom ceiling light to a Broan ventilation fan with light, model 679. My question is where do I connect the green wire coming out from the receptacle? The bare wire is the ground, that is what you hook the green wire to.

Can this fan vent into the attic without duct?

To optimize product performance proper ducting is necessary. Choose the location for your fan/light in the ceiling. For best possible performance, use the shortest possible duct run and a minimum number of elbows.

Using the Wireing schematic shown , can you use two seperate single pole switches instead of the combination switches not included. switches

How does the grille come off for cleaning?

TO CLEAN LENS AND GRILLE: Remove light lens and bulb (the lens is held in place by tabs on the sides that slip into slots in the grille as shown in the Installation Guide). Remove nut in center of reflector and lower assembly.
 
CAUTION: Grille and reflector are separate units.
 
Unplug light from WHITE receptacle. Plastic parts can be cleaned with mild, soapy water (use a mild detergent, such as dishwashing liquid) and dried with a soft cloth. Do not use abrasive cloth, steel wool pads, or scouring powders.
