has anyone used this is a residential kitchen with an 8 ft ceiling?
A. The Broan L300KMG can be used in a residential kitchen however it may be a bit loud at 3.1 Sones for 8 ft ceilings if your kitchen is on the small side. Let me know if you have any other questions.
Can this fan be vented thru the wall?
The Broan L300KMG can be vented through the wall and will need the 8" round duct, Broan 643. The Broan LAF1 Aluminum Mesh Filter is also recommended to keep it cleaner, but not required.
I'm remodeling a mfrd home and want to use this fan instead of a range hood. Its a cathedral ceiling, and 9' over the cooktop. The joists at that point are only 9" deep at that point (plus drywall). Can I box in this fan, dropping it below the ceiling to make room for the housing (and have the intake be level)? Do you recommend I use a different fan?
A. The Broan L300KMG can be installed as you proposed but I still would not recommend it to exhaust cooking grease as it will gum up and fail over time.
What are the Dimensions esp. grate?
A. The Broan L300KMG box is 12 by 12 and the grill is 14 by 14.
Can I use this over an island induction cooktop?
A. The Broan L300KMG can be installed over a cook top, provided you have the ductwork in place to ventilate it. You cannot install cooktop vents to vent directly into the attic, due to the risk of fire.
My kitchen is on the first floor of a 2 story home. The floor above is supported by 2x12 joists spaced at 16-in on center. The kitchen ceiling is 1/2 inch drywall nailed to the joists . The rafters are approximately 11" deep giving me a total height available of about 11.5 inches. Can I install this unit in the ceiling between the rafters, running the duct out to an exterior wall? Is any access needed on the top of the unit? The vertical dimension is listed as 11.75 in. Is this exact? It appears that I may be 1/4 inch short. Is there a way I can make this work?
A. The Broan L300KMG would be able to be installed in this area. A 2x12 is actually 11 3/8 inch, 1/2 inch dry wall would give it just enough room. No access is needed from the top for routine maintenance.
can this fan be mounted on a sloped ceiling?
A. The Broan L300KMG can be mounted on a sloped ceiling.
with the broan L300kmg what will i need for venting out the side of house
A. The Broan L300KMG only needs the inline ducting and a horizontal termination cap to complete the termination.
Like many retailers, Build.com can choose to set its own prices independently. And even though manufacturers require Build.com and other retailers to display a product's "minimum advertised price" (or MAP), the retailer can choose to sell for less than that. But the price must be conveyed in other ways, and each individual manufacturer's MAP policy determines where the price can be seen.
To see the price for this product at Build.com, you'll need to place it in your shopping cart, and maybe even proceed to final checkout. If you're not ready to buy the product, simply remove it from the cart.
Build.com apologizes for any inconvenience. We'd just like to offer you the chance to save extra money while we adhere to manufacturers' MAP policies. Build.com is also working to educate manufacturers on how their policies impact customers and their buying behavior.
