My handle is loose, how can it be tightened?

The first thing to check would be the lock screw that is on the handle hub, it should be snug fit agaisnt the cartridges that is underneath the handle assembly. If tightening this lockscrew does not remove the looseness, you may have a worn down cartridge that may require replacing.

is this faucet all brass or a plastic body

The Delta 2578LHP Faucet is made of solid brass.
