Delta confirmed that in this case the hand shower is a heavy plastic which they use for two reasons. So it doesn't get too hot when it is being used for with hot water and burn your hand when you grab it, and so it's not too heavy that when you drop it (which you WILL do) it doesn't break your toe. The hose is mostly metal mesh with a little plastic for flexibility.
This comes with the hand shower, wall bracket and hose. You would need to purchase the Delta T14053 or the Delta T17053 for the handle trim as well as the rough in valve. You also would need the wall supply elbow which is the Delta 50560.
The Delta 55530 shower head is metal
You will have to add a diverter to use the Delta 55530 on the Delta T17253 system.

To add a hand shower to Delta 55530 you will need a diverter or transfer valve. The diverter for this Vero Collection is the Delta T11853 with valve Delta R11000.
