What is the diameter across?

The diameter of this stopper is 1-1/2" across.

I expect quality from Delta, but I have to ask what the base material is for the finished parts?

The top of the Delta RP31558 will be metal with the finish that is desired, however the threaded part as well as the stem of the stopper, will be plastic as well.

DO YOU UNCSREW IN A CLOCKWISE MOTION OR COUNTER CLOCKWISE?

The Delta RP31558 unscrews in a counter-clockwise motion.

Does the product come with a rubber washer to seal the threads or should plumbers putty be used to seal the threads?

The Delta RP31558 will come with some sort of rubber washer to seal it.

How do you remove a RP393 stopper?

To remove the stopper for the Delta RP31558 you would need to unthread it from the tub, to drain water simply press on the drain and the stopper will pop up.

does delta make a overflow plate in venetian bronze with only one screw in the center

The Delta RP31556 is a single center screw mount overflow plate that comes in the finish of Venetian Bronze.

I think I have this drain plub RP31558; the tub is slow to drain and I don't know how to remove this assembly to clean the drain out. Are there directions anywhere online?

The Delta RP31558 should unscrew to take apart and clean. I was unable to find any online instructions to do so. But I did confirm with the manufacturer that to take this item out you would simply unscrew it.

My toe operated drain plug finish is pealed off. It is polished brass with a 3/8" thread. Can I purchase the plug only?

The Delta RP31558 is unfortunately not sold as a stopper only. You would need to replace the full drain trim.

The size I got does not fit my plumbing. Does it come in a different size? Like 1 size smaller

Unfortunately if you don't know the actual install size these things are hard to guess - I suggest looking at the Kingston Brass DTT20 and measuring your current installation requirements. The Kingston Brass Toe Operated Stopper will installed into a 1 7/8 Inch Hole.

We press down to stop the water and the unit does not seem to seal completely. Should I be turning it in some way?

Sometimes the stopper unscrews a little and it doesn't seal tightly.

Does the assembly include a special tool for the brass screw with slot? This piece is especially difficult to remove due to its non-standard head. I had to file a prybar to fit, and it was difficult to remove.

There is no special tool to remove this.

Why don't we show the price?

Like many retailers, Build.com can choose to set its own prices independently. And even though manufacturers require Build.com and other retailers to display a product's "minimum advertised price" (or MAP), the retailer can choose to sell for less than that. But the price must be conveyed in other ways, and each individual manufacturer's MAP policy determines where the price can be seen.

To see the price for this product at Build.com, you'll need to place it in your shopping cart, and maybe even proceed to final checkout. If you're not ready to buy the product, simply remove it from the cart.

Build.com apologizes for any inconvenience. We'd just like to offer you the chance to save extra money while we adhere to manufacturers' MAP policies. Build.com is also working to educate manufacturers on how their policies impact customers and their buying behavior.
