I love this chandelier
It is beautiful in my dining room as well as being a quality, well-made product. I used 5 60w candelabra based bulbs and 3 75w standard base bulbs and use it on a dimmer switch. It is right for every mood.

Very Pleased
Light fixture was just the one we have been looking for - nice quality. Delivery was timely and had one cracked globe - when we called in, another was quickly shipped....very pleased with the whole transaction. Would do it again.

Fantastic
We are renovating our newly-purchased house and were searching for a light fixture for our dining room. We bought the chandelier in the nickel finish. This was by far the best fixture we could find ... and a decent price. We have a contemporary house, and we feel this fits right in with our new look. We also purchased the coordinating bowl pendant to go in our entry that is close to our dining room. Both fixtures are great ... they coordinate well without looking "forced." Very pleased with our purchase and with Lighting Direct.

Good chandelier for the money
We were looking for a nice chandelier that would match our furniture in two adjoining rooms, and this one fit the bill at a reasonable price. The quality is pretty good, but it's not as "high class" looking as we had hoped. Nonetheless, it's a good chandelier with nice illumination, pretty good quality, and a very pleasant color combination.

would be able to get the carmelized glass with the nickel finish?
The Dolan Designs 208 in the satin nickel finish cannot be configured to come with carmelized glass...it comes packaged with the alabaster glass from their manufacturing warehouse.
Based on your answer to question 5 about height, the total length from bottom to top of the light is about 18" only, not 21". Which on is correct?
The height of The Dolan Designs 208 is 21".
What is the height from the base of the bottom bowl to the top of the upper bowl? What is the height from the top of the upper bowl to the top of the fixture?
The height from the base of the bottom bowl to the top of the upper bowl on the Dolan Designs 208 is 8 7/8" & from there to the top of the fixture is 9 3/8".
Does total height 21" already include the 6" chain length?

I am thinking about installing the fixture over a 50" square island in my kitchen. The ceiling height is 8'. Do you think this is a good fixture for over a large island?
With a total output of 500 watts, the Dolan Designs 208 should be a perfect center piece.
What holds the uprights bowls in place, can they fall out?
The Dolan Designs 208 globes will not fall out- there are held securely in place with lip.
Would a normal incandescent light bulb stick out of the top of the globes? They seem very short.
Yes, they would stick out a bit. You need to use the G16.5 bulbs which are shorter and rounder than a standard bulb.
Can you turn on the downlight by itself?
The up and down lights do not function independantly.
Can a dimmer be used?
Yes,the Dolan Designs 208 can be used with a standard residential dimmer.
What is Bolivian Finish?
Bolivian finish is a really dark bronze with a distressed edge showing a little copper/gold.
Do the lights operate independently?
The Dolan Designs 208 lights cannot be operated independently.
