Is this unit a complete FREE STANDING stall. or does it need to be attached to a wall?

The DreamLine SHEN-5034416 is designed to be attached to a finished shower wall.

where can i get the showerdoor replacement hardware

You can try calling the manufacturer directly for replacement hardware. They are listed under Bath Authority. You can reach them at 866-731-8378.

Is the drain in the tray centered? Should the shower and tray be installed after the tile walls and flooring are already installed?

Dreamline SHEN-5034416 is the shower enclosure only. The Dreamline shower base SHTR-5036430 that you would use with this unit does not have a center drain.

Can the unit be installed directly onto a tile floor or is a base required? If so, any adverse issues for installation or performance

The DreamLine SHEN-5034416 needs to be installed on a shower receptor.
