Finish Selection Buying Guide

Finish Selection—Finishes for your door hardware can vary as much as anything else in your home. Handlesets.com offers nearly 80 finishes for every décor idea, motif and theme. If you can envision a finish, we have it. Other things to consider about choosing finishes include:

Split finishes—Most manufacturers offer this option, and instead of paying an additional cost, the customer usually pays for the more expensive of the two finishes. Since split finishes are special orders, they must be made through customer service to verify cost and lead time.

Lifetime Finishes—Many brands offer a finish that carries a lifetime warranty. For example, Lifetime Polished Brass is made by manufacturers like Baldwin, Emtek, Kwikset and Schlage. This type of finish is designed to withstand the elements and severe weather conditions (i.e., areas near salt water).

Finishes Across Manufacturers—Even though many manufacturers offer finishes with the same name, it’s unlikely those finishes make an exact match. Polished Brass and Polished Chrome are the only two finishes that are consistent across every manufacturer. Other than that, each finish has its own unique tone and color. Contact customer service to check if the finish you’d like is consistent with that of another brand.
