3.9 Cubic Foot Top Load Washing Machine with Dual Action Agitator
doesn't wring out properly
I bought the washer 3 weeks ago and have only done 3 loads. Each time, it doesn't wring out the clothes properly and they're too wet to put in the dryer. When I try to get it to spin a little more to drain the remaining water-by manualing selecting spin/drain, it takes awhile to get it to spin. My washer is in the basement and I had to install an extension on the hose to get the water to go up the 7 feet to reach the septic level. Perhaps the pump doesn't have enough strength to shoot the water out? Is there another model that would have a higher range to push the water up and out so the machine will drain/wring properly?

Read noise info first
I've used my new washer a few times. The first time I used it without reading the manual and the noises and operation concerned me at first. I formerly had a gear-operated washer and this new one sounds different. It cycles up and down in agitation and spinning. Without knowing this I originally thought something was wrong. No, it's just different. My first load came out clean smelling and well-spun. By reading the manual, I also learned that it has a second rinse you can select by turning a dedicated knob to "power rinse." I don't use fabric softeners, but I do like to give towels and sheets an extra rinse.

It tears up my clothes
I was hoping that purchasing a GE product would make me happy - I liked the fact that they are producing again. But, man, this machine tears up clothes! It's ruined 4 shirts and a pair of pajamas. There is no gentle cycle to speak of, and the mildest one doesn't even come close to being gentle. Anything with a string or straps will be destroyed. I could only afford this class of washer......but now I am having to replace clothes it's ruined (ever ruin a 15-y.o. girls brand new shirt??? Not a good reaction!!). BIG regrets on this purchase.
I guess, though, if you only wash jeans and towels it might be okay.

Washes our clothes very well & in a reasonable amount of time.
I read a number of reviews before this purchase. I liked that it does NOT have a locking lid, takes 40-45 minutes (rather than over an hour like many others), and for some reason I like the stainless tub. Also, it holds pretty large loads & I try to always wash full loads. If I want to use less water, I can control the amount with the size of the load. The machine has a sticker on it that says GE employs more than 4,000 employees in Louisville, KY and it was assembled there. I've only owned it for 3 months, so I don't know how it will be long term. Based upon my current use, I really like it.

Works fine so far
I have only had the washer a week, but so far it seems to work just fine. It is quiet and the inside large and the clothes smell like they should (another person said she has a bad smell for awhile now..must just be her washer or maybe she has bad water now or for some other reason. The delivery man recommended putting the wash cycle on without clothes for the first wash cycle just to clean it first..maybe she didn't do that.) The first cycle with no clothes in it, the washer sounded loud at first..but was probably just because there were no clothes in it, it is quiet now. Works fine so far.

I've only had this for two days... did four loads in it that would have taken at least 6 loads in my old washer... and QUIET!!! It sits right next to my kitchen in the laundry room and we could hardly hear it!! Although I tried stopping the cycle and adding a few more items and a few more minutes and it started clunking loudly. So I don't recommend messing with the cycle once it's started. Also, I have to get used to the slight delay whenever it's between functions. But the manual says this is completely normal.
Overall... I think I'm going to love the size of the tub and the silent action. But I DID replace my 45 year old Maytag that was still working just fine!! We'll see how long THIS one lasts!!!

Save Your Money
We purchased this washer a little over a year ago when our front loader broke down and we needed something now and wanted to purchase made in the USA business. It rarely spins out the water the first time, cost me more money to do a second spin cycle. When it is on the high setting for water, many times it doesn't completely fill up and has to be reset a second and sometimes third time to get enough water in the tub to do a load of washing. The fabric softener dispenser only empties partially. Save your money and bypass this one for a washer that works!

I replaced an HE top loader with this excellent, old school top loader. I really like that you can select the water level that you need to get your clothes really clean. The large capacity tub allows me to wash a king size comforter with no problem. I use the power rinse option and it provides very thorough rinsing. This machine spins the loads nearly dry and never goes out of balance like my previous HE machine did. It is so quiet that I hardly know that it is running and it get my clothes really clean, at about 45 mins. per load. I am very pleased!

Great value - good washer at a good price
This washer does a great job cleaning clothes and is very quiet compared with my old washer. It does not have lots of bells and whistles (less things to go wrong!) but has everything I need - a selection of water levels, water temps, fabric types and an adequate size drum to do large loads (bed quilts/bulky items). The washer is well designed and easy to use, with a stainless steel interior that looks sturdy. I have been using it for a few months now and I am pleased with it. I also have the matching dryer and have been pleased with it also.

I have had problems with this washer from the get go. Not only does it eat and twist cloths up it does not stay in balance and makes very loud noises. I wanted to take it back on the first day I used it but they told me it just needed to be leveled so we did and it helped but still makes loud noises alot of the times. I dont think it washes cloths that well either. Now it overflowed and never shut off and will not agitate. I dont recommend this washer at all. It seemed to have everything I wanted in one but does not stand up and do a go job.
