Humidity Control

Humidity Control

Looking for a refrigerator that has Humidity control.  The general rule is to put things in a humidity controlled drawer that emit ethylene gas or are sensitive to this gas IE: tomatoes, strawberries, avocados.  By leaving the window open on the drawer (low humidity) gives those gases a chance to escape keeping fruit and veggies fresher for longer.  Understanding humidity settings will help you properly segregate your fruits and veggies. You don't want ethylene gas from tomatoes or strawberries getting cozy with your spinach or arugula. See the table below as a refrence:

High Humidity
  • Leafy Greens
  • Spinach
  • Arugula
  • Basil
  • Lettuce
  • Broccoli
  • Brussel Sprouts
  • Cauliflower
  • Carrots
  • Green Onions
  • Medium Humidity
  • Mellons
  • Tomatoes
  • Sweet Potatoes
  • Lemons
  • Limes
  • Oranges
  • Low Humidity
  • Apples
  • Grapes
  • Mushrooms
  • Okra
  • Peppers
  • Squash
  • Pears
