The House of Troy DSL24 is dimmable as it uses incandescent lighting. There are 4 bulbs that it uses that each are 15w each. Your total wattage coming out of this is 60w, which is the same as a standard medium size bulb. The heat will be a little bit more dispersed with this unit, but I would personally treat it the same way as I would a 60w bulb in regards to heat, and damage to paint.
