Fan is very quiet, required no balancing, seems very well built. However, I did expect the remote control to be able to reverse the direction. It does not. The product description said nothing about this. May 21, 2010

The Hunter 23688 can be installed on a sloped ceiling with the use of a down rod and the Hunter Sloped Ceiling Adaptor.

The Hunter 23688 has a height of 14.7" which would work for an 8ft ceiling.
