planner had hunter original fans for 25 years when we had an attic fire/the fans survived but decided to replace all fans ie the 3 hunters. was told the original did not exist anymore. was pleasantly surprised to find them easily on line ordered 7 white original cast iron body with oil bath. they are so quiet. Can you add a light kit to Hunter 23856?

The Hunter 23856 can accept any Hunter light kit you wish.

Can this fan be flush mounted?

Yes, the Hunter 23856 fan can be flush mounted.

I am looking for a light kit for this fan that uses medium base either cfl or incandescent lights. Can you please recommend one that would fit this fan?

The Hunter 23856 can be used with the 25271 fitter with the 22515 glass. That will work with a cfl bulb.

Does this fan require a remote?

The Hunter 23856 does not require a remote control to operate as it is equipped with pull chains.

I am retiring an old Hunter ceiling fan, Model # 22272...It has a light globe on it, that kind of looks like your model # 22515...Can I use my existing fitter and globe wiht a Hunter # 23856 ceiling fan?

Is it possible to install any type of 3-speed wall switch for this fan, or is it absolutely pull-chain only?

Yes, the Hunter 23856 is able to be installed with a wall switch/remote.

Can an extension rod be purchased for this fan, and can it be operated with a wall switch?

The Hunter 23856 operates from a pull chain only and can be equipped with a downrod. A 3 foot downrod would be listed as the Hunter Dowrods-36. A four foot would be the Hunter Downrods-48.

I have several of these in my home, but they are probably 10+ years. Are the only light kits that will work with this cast iron model "the Hunter 25271 fitter with the 22515 glass?"

The Hunter 23856 comes with a 3 inch down rod. Longer versions are available for purchase.
