great fan noise level more than I thought 2.5 should be but better than the old one I replaced.
Only drawback was bulb compartment was very short could only use appliance bulbs CF wouldn't fit!

Can the light and fan run independently from each other?
The Hunter 81030 fan and light can be run independently if you have 2 separate switches. If you only have one switch they cannot be run independently.
Is the motor housing small enough to be direct-vented to the roof in a ceiling with 4" joists?
The Hunter 81030 is too large to fit your joist. This is meant for at least 12" joists.
Can I order just the glass piece for the Hunter 81030?
No, I am sorry the Hunter 81030 glass shade is not sold separately. You can try contacting Hunter at 901-744-1200.
