16'' Cast Iron Grate with 2 Inch Legs from the Franklin Collection
Keep your hearth area safe and warm with a grate from Hy-C. Allows air to reach the log from all around and protects logs from rolling.
Alan Hisey founded HY-C COMPANY in 1947 in Saint Louis, Missouri. Their first product was an aluminum chimney cover manufactured in Mr. Hisey’s garage. HY-C is still owned by the family, but the facilities have expanded from the garage to an entire city block just north of downtown Saint Louis, plus an auxiliary warehouse in south Saint Louis. In 1980 the company manufactured its first assembled, black-painted, galvanized chimney cover. A few years later HY-C added the same covers made out of stainless steel. Over time several items were added to the chimney cover line as demand grew, and eventually, Hy-C expanded their offerings to many other fireplace and hearth accessories. Hy-C has been the mark of quality since 1947.

Right SizeIt took a long time to find the right size. I have a fireplace insert (interior dimensions) width of 18" and depth of 8 - 10 ". Without the grate I would have fist size chunks of charcoal left over. A waste of firewood. With the grate it all burns down to a fine ash w/ no waste. The grate also keeps the firewood from falling against the glass. The one caveat is when it come time to clean out the ashes you have to remove the grate. (use Heavy Duty Leather Gloves) as the grate may still be warm (Hot)!

Heavy duty and a perfect fit!I have a very small fire box in my woodstove so finding a grate that actually fits has been very difficult. The ones I have purchased in the past deteriorate after one or two seasons - this one is a LOT more durable!! From the product to the delivery time, everything about my purchase with build.com has been exceptional! I will purchase from them again!
