What is the difference between this light and the 8858?

The Justice Design Group FAL-1265 is a little larger in overall size and extends 6.25" from the wall which means it is not ADA compliant. The 8858 is ADA compliant.

Is the glass actually mounted on the rectangular wood (?) or is that just to display it?

The Justice Design Group FAL-1265 is just the glass wall washer; there is no wood.
