Yes, the center light can operate independently.

Can this fixture be hung outside where rain will fall directly on it?

The Kichler 15402 is wet rated (confirmed with Kichler) so yes rain can fall directly on it.

Can I buy replacement glass?

Replacement glass for the Kichler 15402 is Kichler G15402OZ.

Where must the transformer, spoken about in the product description, be mounted. I would like to mount this to an arbor that is 100% weather exposed and hard wired. Is the transformer something that can rest in the junction box or is it too large to fit there?

The Kichler 15402 no longer includes a transformer, you would have to purchase on separately. The Kichler 15E120 is the recommended transformer and it should be ok for outdoor use.

Are the globes on the Kichler 15402 closed at the top to keep bugs out?
