Does this have an on/off switch or pull cord?

The Kichler 5214 is for hard wired installation using a wall switch.

Is this lamp adaptable for compact fluorescents and does it have dimming capablities?

The Kichler 5214 can take a compact fluorescent but if you go with a compact fluorescent you will not be able to dim it.

Does this have a built in on/off switch?

Unfortunately, the Kichler 5214 does not have a built in on/off switch; it is a hard-wired fixture.
