This is a hardwired light, so to turn it on, you will want to wire it to a lightswitch.

The Kichler 6020 is not able to be modified to have a button put on it.

The Kichler 6020 is a dimmable light. It can be used with a normal dinner switch.

can i use this on the wall in a shower?

No, this is only UL listed for damp locations, it is not suitable for inside the shower.
