How would this fixture size relate to a 36" vanity. Can they both be 36", or should the fixture be shorter, int he 3-bulb size?

The Kichler 6091 would relate well to a 36" vanity. Both can be 36", it is a matter of personal preference. The fixture also comes in a 3 bulb size and the model number for that is 6093 if you would like to take a look!

Does this fixture come in a 3 blub size?

The Kichler 6090 is the 3 light version.

How do you putthe bulb in--from the top or the bottom?

What kind of light bulb does this use? I bought 60w candelabra, but it didn't fit. Directions say 60w Candelabra.

The Kichler 6091 uses (4) 60 watt G-Type candelabra bulbs.

Does this fixture come with a chrome finish?

The Kichler 6091 does not come in a chrome finish.

Does this fixture give sufficient light in a bathroom to put on makeup, or is the effect dimmed?

The Kichler 6091 does have a 3 light model it is the 6090NI.

Does the light shine down or up, or both?

The Kichler 6091 has glass shades that are open on the bottom and the top so light does go both ways.
