Information in below answer is incorrect. Glass Globes are closed at the top which is really nice to keep bugs out.

The Kichler 9818 does have Glass Globes that are closed.

Can this be installed out in the open under a pergola where rain will be an issue? Or is it sealed for rain/water?

This chandelier isn't rated to be exposed to the elements, so I wouldn't suggest installing this where it can be exposed.

how wide is model 9818 and, are the globes closed at top to keep bugs out of globe?
