Kohler K-690 Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good quality I just finished installing the Kohler K-690, and I wanted to share a few impressions I have about it. First, the faucet is very good quality - sturdy, and well finished. Second, it is quite large. My wife said it looks like something that could be in a commercial kitchen. This makes it very functional - great water flow and spraying action, but it isn't a dainty little faucet. Final impression was that it was very easy to install. It took me 30 minutes to wrestle out our old faucet, and about 10 minutes to put this one in. All you need is a wrench (to tighten water lines), a screwdriver (to tighten two leveling screws), and perhaps some thread tape or plumbers putty to seal the water lines. The faucet comes equipped with flexible stainless water lines, so it's very easy to connect. I've uploaded a photo of our installation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not too big The size is perfect - some said it might be too large so I almost ordered the bar faucet and I'm so glad I chose this one. My ceilings are high and the room is about 12' by 22' so I wanted something substantial and this fits the bill. It's plump and curvy! We have been using it for a month and it's a dream faucet. Love the finish and smooth operation, though it does splash a bit. We originally had the handle mounted on the left but moved it to the center so water drips into the sink rather than on the granite - good choice for a family of lefties and righties. To the right is the Kohler K-1994 soap dispenser in the same finish. They look great together and this dispenser is so heavy and much better quality than the 2 cheapies (about 1/4th the price of this one) I previously purchased from home improvement centers. My only concern is that the finishes between the 2 Kohler products are only a 95% match, even though they are both BRZ. I returned the fist dispenser to faucetdirect asking for another BRZ due to the finish being off from the faucet. The second dispenser was exactly the same. I kept both of them anyway because they are beautiful.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from somewhat disappointed I suppose that my problem is a minor one although it is annoying. I purchased a Kohler undermount cast iron sink along with this faucet. The odd shape of the sink (double basins that are not the same size) determined that I could only use the round escutcheon, which was fine. However with the granite countertop, the pipe was not long enough to allow the escutcheon to be used. These are not low end products so I don't think that the use with granite should be a problem. While it doesn't seem to effect the workings of the faucet, I do think it would look better with the extra ring at the bottom. Other than that, I'm very pleased.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Beautiful, Expensive Junk This is the most beautiful piece of junk I have ever purchased. Still love the look, but it leaked, the side plastic cap next to the handle kept coming off and wouldn't stay snapped in. Kohler sent me parts 4 times. My plumber also said it was a piece of junk. He spoke to Kohler as well trying to get the correct pieces. Another client of his purchased it and I gave him all the parts as he will need them! Do not be taken in by appearances. The quality is awful and it is a total waste of money!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful faucet This faucet met all of our expectations - it is LARGE, so keep that in mind if you are buying this for your kitchen. We wanted a large faucet, so that worked well for us. The oil rubbed bronze is beautiful. it is very sturdy and definitely worth the cost. faucet direct offered the best price for this product, by far, and we also found an online coupon, which was great! delivery was quick and everything we needed for installation was included. We've only had it installed a few days, so i can't speak to how this product holds up...but, so far so good! Also---great feature that the handle can be installed in the front or on either side of the faucet - we installed the handle on the front and it's working great.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Kohler K 690 This faucet has been a disappointment to me. The handle has broken 3 times. There is a plastic cap in the lever that cracks. Kohler sends me a new one but if my husband was not handy I would have to hire a plumber to fix this for me. I would recommend that no one buy this until Kohler has a new design plan for the handle. Also the spray does not turn off with the water so it is a shock to turn on the water and have the spray be on.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from pullout spray head problem:( The pullout spray head on this faucet in my kitchen will not stay clipped to the faucet neck. It dangles and doesn't look very sharp. This was an expensive faucet and I never thought a Kohler would do this! I am concerned that it will get worse with use.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed We've had so many problems with this faucet, I am finally replacing it and wonder if I should go with a different brand this time. We originally purchased this faucet in 2003. Within 6 months we had a major water leak. Kohler replaced it quickly and without any questions (thumbs up for the best customer service), but the new faucet began leaking from the handle shortly after installation. I didn't have the energy to do anything about it at the time, so we left it. It has gotten worse and worse and now water practically pours from the handle when we are using the faucet. And the head of the faucet does not attach properly about 80% of the time and limply dangles from the neck. I think Kohler would replace it again but I don't think I want another one.

    A. The faucet head connects to the spout with a pressure fit.

  • Is brazen bronze and brushed bronze the same color finish?

  • What is the best way to clean the oil rubbed bronze bathroom fixtures?

    A. Cleaning the Oil Rubbed Bronze finish without affecting it can be difficult as it is a living finish and can change if cleaned with any harsh chemicals. For proper care and maintenance advice, we encourage contacting Kohler directly at 1.800.456.4537 and speaking with one of their techs. Thanks!

  • Does Kohler make a matching soap dispenser?

    A. The Kohler Vinnata collection does not have a specifically matching soap dispenser. But, the K-1894-C from the Fairfax is a very comparable piece.

  • Which finish best matches stainless steel appliances and sink?

    A. The Kohler K-690 in vibrant stainless would be the best match to your sink and appliances.

  • Would the 690 function well with the Kohler Cape Dory undercounter kitchen sink or the similar undercounter single basin from the Bakersfield Collection. Thankyou for your help

    A. The Kohler K-690 is a large faucet, so be mindful of the size of your sink in comparison. But, it will function well with the Cape Dory basin and any larger basin sink you would like.

  • Would the K-690 be too large a faucet with the Kohler Sterling series Mcallister 11444-NA stainless steel double bowl sink? And if so what would you recommend in stead? Trying to maintain a Country/ Victorian look for kitchen and adjoining family room. Thank you for your advice.

    A. The 11444-NA is a traditional style sink and will work with 690. You can go with a smaller facuet 691 that will be smaller. Either would work it depends on your preference.

  • Does the faucet swivel 180 degrees or more?

    A. The Kohler K-690 Faucet swivels 360 degrees.

  • What is the black ball behind the faucet head used for?

    A. The Swivel ball on the Kohler k-690 is the joint between spray head and hose that creates highly efficient hose maneuverability.

  • Does the faucet assembly come with a broader base (than pictured), for example to cover holes in sink where dual faucets had been present?

    A. The escutcheon provided is 10 1/2", they do not sell anything longer. To cover up additional holes in a sink they do sell color matching hole covers.

    A. The Kohler K-690 in the vibrant stainless is an exact match in finish to the kohler stainless sink. It is designed as a direct counter part to the sink.

  • Is this faucet made in America?

    A. The Kohler K-690 is assembled in Wisconsin

  • Is the pull out srayer metal or plastic?
