Forte Single Handle Rite-Temp Pressure Balanced Valve Trim Only with Metal Lever Handle
Kohler Reps Don't Know Their Own Products
We bought this to replace a shower trim valve in our guest bathroom shortly before company came for the weekend. FaucetDirect was great; Kohler definitely was NOT.
The original description said that ALL the visible parts of the product were made of metal, and 2 Kohler reps confirmed this to FaucetDirect on the phone, but the whole back plate was made of silver-colored plastic. FaucetDirect then called the nearest warehouse, and the people there sent a second one that they supposedly opened and guaranteed was all metal. Once again, the big back plate was plastic, but we were forced to keep one (with company on the way), and repackage and drag the second one to a not-too-near UPS store. (BTW -- as of 7/2/13, the FaucetDirect Q/A section still says, "The Kohler K-T10277-4 has no visible plastic parts".)
The FaucetDirect people tried hard to rectify the situation, sent the second one overnight, and gave us a discount, even though the problem was entirely due to misrepresentation by Kohler and its reps. Watch out for other Kohler products!

Great design & quality
I am a Remodeling Contractor and use Kohler parts frequently. They always meet my expectations. This part had a brushed nickel finish and was a replacement for one I had purchased a few weeks prior. Reason for the replacement is because the first one had the finish blackened by strong acid fumes. Normally I gut a bathroom and replace everything. In this application a friend requested that I just update an existing bathroom keeping the existing tub. I sub contracted a tub reglazing company to do the work. In order to make the new finish adhere to the tub they acid etched it. The acid fumes are very strong and and though there was no contact with the trim, just the fumes caused it to turn an even almost black color. So if you ever consider reglazing do not install trim before the glazing is completed. By the way I didn't think to highly of reglazing a tub but these guys used a urethane process (not the original epoxy process) and the result was excellent.
