Is the lever handle on this model the same as the K-T396-4? That calls for a K-304-K valve and the K-T376-4 calls for K--687-K. Why the difference? Please advise.

The Kohler lever on the K-T376-4 is the same as the lever on the K-T396-4, but it is slightly smaller. The K-T376-4 is a diverter or transfer valve, and the K-T396-4 is a pressure balanced valve (volume and temperature). They have different functionality which explains why they require different valves.

is this a 3 way diverter?

Hello, the Kohler K-T376-4 is a trim that works with rough in valve K-728-K that is a three way transfer valve.
