Advantages of Stainless Steel over Enameled Cast Iron or Fireclay:
Very durable; will never chip or crack
Dishes usually don't break when dropped during dish washing
Due to relative weights, stainless steel is generally much easier (and less expensive) to install
Nonporous; resists bacteria
Neutral color fits into almost any décor - matches stainless steel appliances
Product Technologies / Benefits:
Extra Thick, 16 Gauge Stainless Steel: Short of paying thousands of dollars, 16 gauge is as thick as sinks come (22% thicker than 18 gauge; 36% thicker than 20 gauge). Thicker steel means a stronger sink (hence the lifetime warranty) while also offering a richer and more robust appearance to the finish that is easily discernible from the white-washed, cheap look of thinner sinks.
Premium Grade T-304 Stainless Steel: There are two primary types of stainless steel in the market: T-409 and the higher quality T-304. The difference lies in chromium and nickel contents; T-409 with 11% and .5% respectively, T-304 with 18% and 10%. When added to steel, these two metals prevent oxidation and rust by neutralizing sodium chloride (salt) – a common element in everyday kitchens. While cheaper sinks use T-409, Kraus sinks boast T-304, further lending to the lifetime warranty.
Sound Insulated: Sound insulated steel is commonly only thought of in the automobile industry. There, auto manufacturers use spray-on “Stone Guard” insulation to provide for a quieter ride and protect the steel. Borrowing this technology and adding to it, Kraus sinks use Stone Guard insulation, sprayed over rubber sound dampening pads to create a noticeably lower-tone and overall quieter kitchen sink. It also protects your cabinet from underside condensation drips.
Included Dish Grids (Basin Racks) and Basket Strainers (Drains): It’s a wonder why dish grids aren’t included with all sinks; they serve a valuable role. Not only do they virtually eliminate scratches, they allow the sink to properly drain, preventing sink scum and protecting your cutlery. As with all Kraus sinks, this sink includes the stainless steel sink grids along with the basket strainers you’ll need for installation.
Heavily Certified: Kraus has gone to great lengths to be able to provide you, the homeowner, the rest-easy satisfaction knowing that your sink is certified and listed by all the major product testing boards in the U.S. and Canada. This means that this sink is deemed safe to use and that it meets all applicable building codes. Certifications and listings include: UPC, cUPC, CSA, IAPMO, ANSI and SCC.
This kitchen sink is available as a kitchen combo with a number of faucet choices. Like their sinks, Kraus kitchen faucets have gained tremendous momentum within the kitchen and bath industry and are highly regarded for their quality, durability, and meaningful innovation. It looked great, but pretty disappointedThis sink SEEMS very high quality. It's nice and thick and will not bend when you push on it. It's insulated on the bottom so it's not noisy. It's beautiful and functional, but it SHOWS WATER SPOTS HORRIBLY. I'm talking you run water in one time and it looks AWFUL. It also scratches REALLY easily. I washed a few pans in the sink the day it was all hooked up and ready to go and immediately noticed scratches on the bottom....at which point I started using the racks :( The DELTA faucet that we bought to go on it, it WONDERFUL and you can touch it with wet hands and it doesn't show water spots at all. They need to work on their finish and this would be a wonderful sink.

Perfect size and so much moreWe remodeled our 1980's kitchen this spring and I needed to find an undermount sink that would fit into a small space. We kept the existing wood cabinets, they are built such that the doors below the sink area are set in about 2 inches which makes it hard to use a deep sink without impacting the cabinet.
I almost gave up on getting a deep double sink as they were mostly too big for the space. Then I happened to see the Kraus brand sinks. Kraus has done a wonderful job in providing a selection of various sizes of sinks to satisfy tighter kitchens and tight budgets.
We were so delighted with the quality of the product especially for the price. Solid construction, sound proof and all the extras that come with their sinks. You get a removable strainer, grids and even a towel. The drain hole setback is a another great feature for using the sinks. I will be recommending Kraus for a long time, excellent products!

Excellent product!I am a General Contractor remodeling my own home this time around. With our goals set HIGH and our budget tight we had to really be wise when shopping. The kitchen sink is an extremely important part of your everyday life and its an area you definitely don't want to skimp on. This sink had everything we wanted and then some while being well within our budget. The 16 gauge stainless is of the highest quality and then they through in extras like strainers and sink grates. The packaging was stout, our sink came without a scratch in it.
I am very satisfied with this product and intend to use these sinks for my upcoming remodels.

love this sink!Looked at Franke and Blanco sinks and when you add the drains, grids, etc., they are over $600. The Faucet Direct salesperson recommended Krauss and the gauge of the stainless steel is actually better than the other two manufactures AND it comes standard with grids, detergent dispenser and drain cover. Saved me bunches of money and looks just wonderful in our kitchen.
I will recommend this sink to friends without hesitation!

Love our new sink!I could not be happier with the quality of this sink and with FaucetDirect.com. We received the sink within a matter of days and it arrived in perfect condition (in a very nice box) via UPS. I love the accessories, especially the racks/grids that protect my sink from my pots & pans! Before ordering online, we had shopped around a little bit. Nothing I saw in the "big box" home improvement stores compares to what we received from FaucetDirect, and the prices here were so much better than what we saw at the plumbers showroom. We are VERY happy!

Great sink at a reasonable price! The Kraus KBU23 Undermount double bowl sink at $249.95 was a great deal. It is a good size, nice depth, and I really wanted a double bowl with the disposal in the small bowl. It is exactly what I wanted, and nice heavy gauge for a very reasonable price. I saw comparable sinks in showrooms going for $1,000+.

Really impressedI received this sink in a well packaged box. When I opened it, I was impressed with the overall quality of the product. The accessories were a welcome bonus. Pricing of this sink through Faucet Direct beat the pants off my local plumbing stores comparable offerings. Overall I am very pleased with the Kraus sink.

I love the quality of the sink. My kitchen designer/contractor could not believe the low price for the outstanding quality of the product.
A. The Kraus KBU23 is manufactured in Germany with some parts coming from Italy and Spain. The sinks are then assembled in China.
We were just at a store, the sinks there were 18 and 20 guage, what is the reason for only 16 on the Krause, lower quality?
A. If you're speaking in terms of gauge, the lower number actually sigifies thicker stainless. 20 gauge is generally the thinnest sink available, 18 gauge is slightly thicker, while 16 gauge is generally the thickest gauge you can find.
Is it made with the smaller sink on the left?
A. The Kraus KBU23 is only avaiable with the smaller sink on the right.
Is there a comparable sink with the smaller sink on the left?
A. The Kraus KBU23 doesn't come in a version that has the smaller side on the left. Sorry about that. You can reach me by email (which is quickest) or on ext. 341. Have a wonderful day and happy home improving!
What are actual widths(working area) of smaller sink and larger sink?
A. The Kraus KBU23 is 17.75" L x 18.5" W x 9" H for the larger bowl and 10.5" L x 16" W x 7" H for the smaller.
Does the stainless in this sink have a satin finish?
A. The Kraus KBU23 has a satin finish.
Can I purchase this sink with the small sink on the left and the large on the right?
No, the Kraus KBU23 is only available with the smaller sink on the right hand side.
What size base cabinet is best for this sink?
Kraus KBU23 is designed to have an undermount installation; fits 33"+ cabinets.
