Gibson Sectional Keyed Handleset with Single Cylinder SmartKey Lock by Kwikset

Welcoming and warm, the Gibson features a soft, oval design - a pleasing addition to any entrance door. Bottom Spring Latch is retracted by a thumbpiece on the exterior and lever/knob grip from the interior, except when both are locked by a key from the exterior or turnbutton from the interior. The upper Deadbolt is operated by a key from the exterior or thumbturn from the interior. Equipped with the new SmartKey technology, this handleset is the perfect choice to protect your home or business. This is the exterior portion of a Kwikset Handleset. In order to have a full handleset, you must also select the interior pack. As you proceed to the cart, you will be prompted with all the compatible interior packs made by Kwikset. You will not be able to use this handleset without an interior pack.

Great door Handleset It's difficult to find a door handle with both a dead bolt and handle lock. This is a great looking and functioning handle. Some may not like the panic feature, where you can open the door from the inside with the handle locked... if you close the door on yourself (say to get the mail), the handle will have you locked out. The Dead bolt is very sturdy. easy to install. Love it June 11, 2011

Product is fine, service was excellent. This product works fine, and actually is about the only set that works and fits the doors in the complex, so it works, and i can't really say more. Dissapointed I purchased this lock after having another Kwikset lock for 5 years. It suddenly fell apart, not the bolt, but the rest so we were left with a partial lock. Went to the store to purchase just the bottom half but had to purchase a new system so it would match. Unfortunately this continues when I tried to put in the lock in our steel door and it did not match up with the new one. SO we spent more money and time, called a locksmith to finish the job, then if we had gotten a different quality of lock.The directions were backwards for most of the installation. The new lock was jammed even tho never used,so we had to use parts from the old system. Lookin' good does not mean it is good.Be careful. July 23, 2010
Very happy with this purchase. It was sent to me very quickly and in a very protective box. Seems to be a solid handset . This is a replacement for me as the other set finish was not a lifetime finish. I trust this finish will not deteriorate. January 22, 2010

I am replacing an existing handle and need to know the distance from bottom large hole to small screw hole at bottom of handle.

The standard center to center measurement for handlesets is a 5.5" spread

What is the Center-to-Center measurement?

The Kwikset 553GN-LIP-S is recommended for 5-1/2 inch center holes.

what is the difference between a single and double cylinder

Single cylinder means the lock has a key hole on the outside and a thumbturn on the inside to activate the latch. Double cylinders are keyed on both sides.

Is this solid brass? Is there a dummy handle for a double door?

The Kwikset 553GN-LIP-S is solid brass and the dummy is 555GN-LIP.

my door is 1 5/8 thick adn i do not see much available in that. i am interested in a Bladwin 6573.entr, which would replace exactly what we have. any suggestions?

Many standard handlesets can be installed on any door thickness from 1-3/8 to 1-3/4 inches, and anywhere in between.

We currently have a Westlock 1414 Colonial 1400 Series lock. Will this set retrofit to the current holes in the door when the Westlock is removed?

The Kwikset 553GN-LIP-S will fit bore holes that are 2 1/8" in diameter that have a 5 1/2" center to center measurement. As long as the holes on the doors meets those requirements it will fit.

What is the ANSI Grade?

The lock on the handle of the Kwikset 553GN-LIP-S handleset is Grade 2. The deadbolt that comes with it is Grade 1.

does this model have an inside lever or do you have to purchase this seperate

The Kwikset 553GN-LIP-S is only the exterior portion of the item. The standard cut out on a door will be a 2 1/8" circle. This bore hole for this item will be round.

When leaving your home, are you able to just close the door as you go or do you need a key to lock it?

The Kwikset 553GN-LIP-S does lock on the handle and the deadbolt. So as long as you lock the door from the inside you can close it and the door will be locked.
