The Kwikset 730LL should not require any adjustment for installation into a 1 3/8" thick door.
The handing on this item is reversible. You can install it as a right hand or a left hand. Also, you are albe to have the curve up or down.
The Kwikset 730LL comes with a small rod that is used to unlock from the exterior.
The handle itself will detach and will be able to be flipped 180 degrees horizontally to avoid situations like that. This product is fully, symetrically reversible.
The 730LL will have a privacy lock on it and will come with a latch. The best option would be the dummy version. That model number is 788LL. You will need to choose the model with the correct handing, left or right.
The emergency key for Kwikset privacy locksets is Kwikset 81087.
The Kwikset 730LL levers can be detached from the rosettes and guts. Then, you can switch the sides of the levers to make either a right handed leverset or a left handed leverset. Reversing handing will need to be done while it is uninstalled. The curve of the lever can remain the same if you are properly swicthing the handing.
