Easy to install, rekey and use
Finally a manufacturer developed a door latch set that was very easy to install. There are several minor tweaks to the design that make it really easy. As for operation, it does away with gripping a knob which can be a pain when your hands are full or when grip is an issue. Rekeying this lock was so easy that it was almost scarry.

Do It Yourself!
I bought a series of locks to rekey my homes exterior doors. The handle sets came quickly, and were very easy to install. Four sets all done in less than 2 hours!

Even though the handle is reversible, will the curve still style the same way for both right and left hand doors? Do we have to take it apart to reconfigure this? It looks like the curve would go up one way and turn down the other if I needed to rotate it to switch doors.
The Kwikset 740LL-S is reversible which means it will look exactly the same regardless of if it is on the right or the left hand side of the door. You do this by switching the handles. They just pull off, it is all in the installation instructions.
Is the Keyed Kwikset 740LL-S with smart key also available in push button privacy ?
The Kwikset 740LL-S is available as a privacy lever under model number 730LL.
Is this a deadbolt lock inside the handle?
This item is a keyed lever set. It requires a key from the exterior on the lever and the interior has a thumb turn to lock and unlock. There is not a deadbolt with this lever.
I just moved into my new home and want to change the locks but have no key can this be done w/all kwickset lever handles that look like the 740LL-S
Kwikset has a SmartKey technology that allows re-keying, the item numbers with a "S" usually notates the SmartKey technology.
Where can I get the screws that hold the handle in place?
Replacement mounting screws for the Kwikset 740LL-S are Kwikset 81835.
Does the inside door handle operate when the door is locked or do you have to unlock to exit.
The Kwikset 740LL-S when locked would have to be unlocked to exit.

If the outside handle can be reversed by flipping the key mechanism from the outside, what prevents a burglar from changing/opening the door latch from the outside?
To reverse it you only switch the handle itself, the key cylinder stays in place.
What does keyed alike and keyed different mean?
Keyed alike means you can have all the locked items in your order keyed to the same key. Or you have a lock keyed to a key code you might already have. The keycode is a code each key has that operates the lock. Keyed different means all the locked items will come with a different key. If you are only getting one lock choosing keyed alike or keyed different will not make a difference unless you are entering your own key code.
Can I get the 740LL-S with it keyed from both sides?
