To determine the handing of your door you position yourself on the exterior of door and as you approach the door whichever side the hinges are on that would be the handing of your door. For example, if you are outside your house walking up to the front door and the hinges are on the left, then the door handing is left or "LH".
The Kwikset 788TNL-RH is a single sided dummy handle. It attaches directly to the door itself and does not have a back side mounting plate. If you have an existing bore hole and wish to use dummy door levers you would need to get one lever for each side.
