Worked well for a while
Worked very well for the first 6 months, then for the next 6 months the motor struggled (even with fresh batteries). After a year the motor quit working for my lock. I recommend not using the auto-lock feature as I believe this caused it to wear out prematurely.
Luckily Kwikset (Weiser) has a lifetime warranty on the mechanisms for their locks.

Simple, EZ, Effective...like Mac meets a deadbolt
Very simple to install, program and use. Intuitive user-interface with back-lighting that made it perfect for the side door on my garage and the garage to home doors. The backlighting makes it easy to see the numbers in even the darkest conditions (cloudy, moonless night on side of house or even dark garage with lights out). Highly recommended and quite a good price with the piece of mind and enhancement/modernization to home.

Changing Codes
I do like this lock very much. I have other auto locks in my home, but this one is by far the easiest to program. I did have trouble figuring out how to CHANGE an existing code as it wasn't clear in the Installation Guide. Changing a code merely means that you program right over it. In other lock systems like this, you have to enter the existing pass code first and then change it. That is not necessary with this one and you just program right over the old one.

Works well, but rattles
I've been looking forward to installing this deadbolt because it will allow me to let friends and family into my home while I'm away without leaving a key outside for them. This item is exactly what I expected. The interior piece is a bit bulky, but it looks okay. Despite being plastic, the interior pieces match other metal components quite well (mine is satin nickel). The instructions are sufficiently detailed for a novice to perform the installation. My only complaint, and the reason I gave four stars, is that the deadbolt rattles when the door is closed, opened, locked, and unlocked. While this does not affect the function of the item, I would prefer a more solid construction. Overall I am very pleased with this purchase.

Very Happy With This Item
We were very happy with this purchase. The lock came as expected and faster than expected. It was easy to install and set up. Excellent choice for us so we don't have to worry about our kids carrying keys around and potentially loosing them.

Great Purchase
We bought the Kwikset 909 Smartcode for our main door and so far it works great. The kids do not have to carry keys and risk loosing them. You do not need a key to lock it from the outside, you just push a button and the deadbolt engages.

Great locks that make life easier and secure
The locks were easy to install and provide us with the easy flexibility to lock the house and feel safe. It's nice that we can provide the codes to family and friends as needed and yet the ability to change it as frequently as we like. It seems a bit pricey but it's a great value for our needs. Great product!

good for a year only
After a year's use, the lock motor makes three full rotations to open or close the lock, and the inside lever does not align despite the alignment procedures in the manual. When the plastic parts are removed from the back of he door, it works fine. Something in the cheap plastic used in the motor mechanism is broken.
The concept, however, is a great one.

Great Locks... I think
Have had this lock on my front door for a month now. Works fine. Only concern I have is that over time, will the numbers where down or get dirty. If this happens, someone might be able to figure out what numbers are used. Nice thing is that after a few wrong attempts the lock forces a waiting period. I keep the front door well lighted at night and someone attempting to break in would unlikely spend a lot of time there. I also love the smart key feature. Didn't have to change my key for this new lock!

Can I program the closing of the latch for more than 30 seconds say 1 minute?
No, the Kwikset 909 can either lock after 30 seconds or not.
I want a electronic dead bolt with keyed entry on both sides please help
We do not carry a electronic deadbolt in a double cylinder unfortunately by any manufacturer. I would suggest maybe a double cylinder knob or lever to install below an electronic deadbolt which would basically serve the same function.
does keyless come in antique brass?
The Kwikset 909 is only available in polished brass, satin nickel and venetian bronze. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Does SKU 909 come with combination lock as well as handleset?
The Kwikset 909 does not come with a handleset, you would need to purchase your preferred handleset separately. I would recommend the Arlington to look closest.
How do you change the batteries?
The Kwikset 909 features an easy change battery case. You can easily change the batteries by sliding the interior cover up and off, then pulling out the battery case.
How do you reverse the lock motor on the '909'? No installation guide was included in the box with the lock. How can I acquire the installation guide?

My door has two holes pre-drilled 5 1/2 inches apart. Can I use a Kwikset 909 in the upper hole and a traditional round deadbolt in the lower hole? Is there enough room?
The Kwikset 909 fits into a standard sized bore hole and will work on your door. You will probably want to use a lever or knob in the bottom hole though as opposed to another deadbolt.
What batteries are required?
The Kwikset 909 uses 4 AA batteries. These are available at any local hardware store.
