why would fluorescent bulbs not work??? in fixture LS-16222

The Lite Source LS-16222 has a specification that is meant for use with incandescent bulbs. Also a CFL may not fit behind the washer shade. Thank you for your question.

Does this fixture give off enough light to work as a vanity light?

Thank you for your question. The Lite Source LS-16222 may not be enough light for a bathroom since it only uses 2 60w bulbs. But 2 of these lights would definitely work.

Does this supply enough light to fully light a small room 5 feet x 5 feet?

The Lite Source LS-16222 should be enough to light the room fully but you might want to place another light in there or maybe order two as each light only give you a max wattage of 120 volts.
