A. The Minka Lavery 4284 has a total length of 44" across, and can absolutely be hung over that table.
Can this fixture be mounted on ceiling without using the additional chain section--that is, with only the rods and their mounting plate
A. The Minka Lavery 4284 does require using at least one of the chain sections to install.
what size socket are these light sockets. I am concerned that it won't take the new energy bulbs that are replacing the the older types.
A. The Minka Lavery 4284 takes 100W Medium Based Bulbs. As long as the energy efficient bulbs you have are not extra wide(like some) you should be OK. Please let me know if you have any more questions I am happy to help you!
