very nice product We bought these sconces to match the rest of our dining room lighting put in by the builder. It is very solidly built and looks nice on the wall. The only thing that would have been nice is to have a "left" and "right" sconce since the pattern is not really reversible. Either way, we are very happy with the purchase from Lighting Direct. beautiful but finish not as expected This is a beautiful fixture and I am keeping the two I purchased, however the description of the iron finish as "golden bronze" is a litte misleading. It is actually more of a tortoise or crackle pattern of separate gold and bronze designs. May 8, 2008

Does this sconce match the vaxcel lighting cspdd160

This item will not be an exact match but it will coordinate nicely.

I am looking for Tuscan style wall sconces to place on the wall of a curved stairway. What are the dimensions of the 'plate' that attaches to the wall for this sconce. The smaller the better in terms of attaching as flat as possible to a curved wall.

The Minka Lavery ML 734 has a backplate that is 7 1/8" wide and 5" high.

I am primarily interested in a downlight for over some stairs. Can this light be mounted upside down so that the bulb is facing downward?

The Minka Lavery ML 734 cannot be mounted upside down.

What's the maximum watt bulb this fixture can take? Also, can it be installed to work with a sliding dimmer switch?

The Minka Lavery ML 734 can take 60W bulbs, and yes it can be installed with a dimmer!

I want 2 sconces for my Living room for both sides of a huge mirror. I do not want light only directed up, nor only directed down. I want light both ways. Is this sconce open at both the top and bottom to allow light in both directions?

The Minka Lavery ML 734 is open on the bottom and the top of this sconce, so the light will shine up and down the wall.

Can this fixture be used in a bathroom?

The Minka Lavery ML 734 is not damp rated for bathroom use. A shower can create moisture so you typically want a fixture that can withstand that. But if the bathroom is a half bathroom then yes it can work.

Does light come out both the top and bottom?

Yes, it is open on the top and bottom.
