Excellent Product We had a custom home built and chose top of the line products to use. Through the years we found that "top of the line" wasn't necessarily defined by the price. Such is the case with the kitchen faucets and plumbing devices. It should be recognized that the kitchen is one of the most used areas on a daily basis. As such, it isn't reasonable to install items designed for infrequent use. Through the past 15 years we have tried low end, mid end, and high end parts. My wife teaches AutoCad, and 3D Modeling. When a faucet fails, she often disassembles it to inspect the failure point and mechanical design. She then uses the parts as models for her students to measure, analyze, and draw. We have found what can be considered significant design flaws in many, and simply cheap manufacturing procedures in others. Quite sad, but this occurs as much at the top, as at the bottom of the price structure. Now to the Moen 105895 Air Gap. I purchased it to match the finish on my faucet, no other reason. However on its arrival, it was apparent that the product was solid. Heavier gauge metal than most others. Plastic casting mold was of relatively good quality as defined by the casting lines, sharp detail, and lack of flaws. Mounting procedure had been well thought out for both ease and mechanical support. All in all an above average quality product. Know that an air gap is certainly not a "heavy use" product. It sits there and provides the air break from the dishwasher drain line. Many companies put out a quality main product, and literal trash in the more decorative associated products. Think about some of the air gaps and soap dispensers you have seen in the combination offerings at the home improvement stores. Garbage. I have concluded that a company, such as Moen, who puts the thought. effort, and quality into a simple, low cost product like this air gap, excels at its more complicated/expensive offerings. I may be wrong, but I doubt it. Because of this next time I need a product such as a faucet, it will be a Moen product. May 4, 2011

Finish Matches Faucet Perfectly When I ordered my new oil rubbed bronze faucet, I wanted to replace my white air gap to match my new faucet and sprayer. Inexpensive and makes such a difference to have all the sink "equipment" the same finish. Plumber installed it when he installed my new faucet, but I think I could have done the air gap myself. I ordered several other items from Faucet Direct on the same day. I received everything in great condition with instructions in just a few days. I am very pleased with my purchase and will do it again. September 29, 2010

Moen faucet I bought an expensive Moen faucet with pull-out sprayer. The sprayer hose is not metal...it is cheap and will wear out faster than the metal I had on my last faucet. December 11, 2009

Is the cap on an air gap interchangable with other brands? The one I ordered will not arrive in time for my counter install. Can I buy one for the install and then swap out the cover when the matching one arrives?

Air gaps are not brand specific.

What is different between classic stainless and stainless finish?

The Moen 105895 classic stainless is the true stainless and the stainless has a gold brush look. The Classic Stainless is the new one that matches all their appliances.

Can I get just air gap cover ?

will the Classic stainless air gap match a polished chrome faucet (both by Moen)? Or, is there an air gap to match the chrome faucet?

The Moen 105895 classic stainless air gap will not match a polished chrome faucet. one is shiney while the other is matte.

What is an air gap

Two reasons for an air gap: Prevent raw sewage from potentially backing up into the dishwasher. By eliminating the direct connection between the sewage line and the dishwasher. If the drain becomes clogged, the air gap will discharge the dishwasher water into the sink.

What is difference btwn classic ss and ss

The Moen 105895 classic stainless is more of a muted ss color and the ss is a more vibrant shiny color
