Misled by your Online Ordering System I was very disappointed when I received this item because it was the wrong color. You see, I was on your website ordering a Moen handheld shower unit, and when I added that item to my "Shopping Cart", your system automatically pulled up this item and recommended that I also get it. (The recommendation made perfect sense, and was appreciated; however, since I was ordering the handheld unit in oil rubbed bronze, it would have made far more sense if the wall supply elbow would have been pulled up in the same color.) The "Antique Bronze" image similar enough in color that I did not notice the difference from the oil rubbed bronze. As a result, I had to ship this item back (as well as 3 other items that also were "pop-up recommendations" that I also ordered in the Antique Bronze color that was shown when your system suggested them. I think it is probably that "Antique Bronze" is first alphabetically, right?) If your system is going to suggest items, it should be able to program your system to select items in the color that matches the customer's other choices. If that programming is too difficult, then at least put a warning reminder on all such pop-ups to remind the customer to adjust the color choice. I spent $1500.00 on faucets and other bathroom items; but I am frustrated that I had to ship these items back to you, and that I had to re-order to get the correct finish color. It would seem that with current technologies, your on-line ordering system could be more intelligent and not create this potential for error. September 26, 2011

Works well, seems pricey Works as expected, looks nice... Difficult to "tune" length of pipe in wall since both sides screwed in to tighten, ended up soldering a piece of copper pipe with threaded fittings on each end to get exact length. May 23, 2011

Just OK I bought this because it was nice and simple looking but the install has not been so if you like your stuff to look nice and tight against the wall and not leak you better hope for the best. This required a nipple to connect it which the only nipples I found came in 1/2" incriments which one put it to far out from the wall and the other didn't tighten like i wanted it to June 3, 2010

Is there a special pipe connection for the Moen A725 elbow or just a 1/2 male threaded pipe

The Moen A725 screws on to a standard 1/2" male threaded pipe.

How far should the threaded 1/2" male pipe stick out from the finished wall to accommodate the Moen A725 perfectly?

The Moen A725 requires a 1" minimum diameter hole. The connection is 3/8" behind the finished wall.

Is this drop ell compatible with the Moen 3867 ORB shower assembly?

The Moen A725 is compatible with unit Moen 3867.

Can you please tell us whether this piece has a male or female back piece on it where it attaches to the wall? thank you. Kerry

The Moen A725 elbow's connection to the wall will be female threaded.

What keeps water from getting behind the elbow?

The Moen A725 is designed to only be screwed into the pipe, pressed snugly against the wall to prevent water from getting behind it; it is not designed to have silicone applied during install.
