Hotel Shelf from the Kingsley Collection 5 5 2 2

Heavy Chrome and matches! This purchase was to complete the bath hardware that included MOEN and SANTEC products. This Kingsley Collection item was such a close match to the SANTEC Chadwick collection that even close examination is tough. They are not exact, but close enough for horseshoes or hand-grenades. The chroming on these MOEN products is excellent. I wish I had looked at the lighting fixtures at Lighting Direct prior to buying at the big box. The chrome plating on items from Homer and the other guy, just don't stand up to heat and humidity of a bath. I expect to have to replace that when it gets rusty. There is something to be said for a quality product. These products were so much better than the choices of the big box stores. We were very pleased with the speed of delivery and product selection. Are the mounting brackets that are screwed to the wall plastic or metal? I ask this question because Moen has stated using plastic mounting brackets that break quiet easily.

The Moen YB5494 is made out of Glass/Zinc materials, plastic is not mentioned.

The Moen YB5494 extends 10.041" from the wall.

Is this a shelf, or a shelf and towel bar? If only a shelf, could I put a towel bar underneath it? Would that look funny?

The Moen YB5494 is a towel rack and a towel bar. I think another towel bar under it would look fine. You could also put some hooks or rings if you wanted to change it up.

there's a question/answer shown about not recommending that the hotel rack be used in a shower. Can you elaborate? I have bought one to install, and plan to hang on the back of my 40" shower stall.

The Moen YB5494 is not recommended for use in a shower because it does not have any special protection to avoid rusting when coming into direct contact with water.
