Decorative Collection Chrome and White Opal Glass Finish 100 CFM, 1.5 Sones Ventilation Fan

Reasonably Priced but Labor IntensiveJust finished replacing two 20 year old NuTone units. My observations:
? Pro- new unit housing uses same square ceiling cutout and ducting as old unit
? Con-housing must be sistered up to a stud. Unlike old NuTone unit, no accommodation for metal bridging so I had to block out from neighboring studs to remain centered in the room
? Pro- no fan vibration so studs did not amplify any of the fan?s (low) operating sound
? Pro- very few pieces so easy assembly
? Con- you need to get a metal electrical grommet
? Neutral- I sprayed clear lacquer on inside of trim ring and housing in the hope of curbing corrosion. Auto waxed the visible side of trim ring
? Neutral- although one can insulate about the unit, there are several gaps. I used 3M aluminum ventilation tape to seal between housing and sheet rock, etc.
? Con- bulbs are the hard to get GU24 cold florescent with odd bases.
? Con- bulbs require 2 minute warm-up to get to full strength.
? Con- of the 4 installed bulbs, one irritatingly flickers/pulses after 2 hours of operation.
? Neutral- the 2 bulbs are very bright on their own but really muted when finished opaic dome is positioned over.
? Con- I will probably replace the bulb types/receptacles so I can use better bulbs and dimmer
? Pro- attractive finished look
? Pro- quiet operation
Conclusion: while reasonably priced, I spent too much of my own valuable time on needed modifications.

Nice!Nice appearance and finish. Easy installation. I thought the two lights provide plenty of light for a small bathroom. Bulbs at 3500K are surprisingly white light, which I like.

Great LookA beautiful alternative to the dull white plastic exhaust fan and light combination. It looks great, works great, and is very quiet. Could not be more pleased.
