A low voltage transformer is required, but ANY low voltage (12v) transformer will work assuming the wattage is equal to or greater than the total wattage of the lights to be installed on it. (10 lights at 18w each would require a 180w or larger transformer). A few suggestions would be the P8517, P8518, P8519, P8520, P8521, P8522 or the P8523.
