Fantastic Light!!!
This light is fantastic. It was an easy install, looks great, and really makes it nice when coming out of the shower on a cold day. I would highly reccomend this light to anyone looking for a heat lamp. The directions were the best I have seen in a long time for a light fixture. They were very easy to read. Defintely reccommend this light

Great unit for heating the shower on cold mornings
I Have been looking for a heat lamp that could be used in the shower. This unit fits the need.

Good product
good product, works as described, built pretty well. Not 5 starts as the rail system stinks just like most canned lights. The insulation sensor works great (has a probe with a temp sensor and heater so it will cut out the power even before the lamp overheats. Just make sure to read the directions

Does the bulb have a cover so you can install this in a shower and still be in code?

The Progress Lighting P6952TG is only available in Satin Aluminum, and you can install this in new construction.
Can you use a dimmer switch on the heat lamp to control the heat?
The Progress Lighting P6952TG is not dimmable.
If this heat/light cannot be installed over shower, where can it be installed in the bathroom?
The issue here is the UL rating. This fixture is rated for a "damp" location, which would be the bathroom in general. Over the shower would be considered a "wet" location due to the constant moisture and humidity. Most customers install this just outside their shower enclosure so it heats upon entry and exit.
What is the maximum wattage this can take?
The Progress Lighting P6952TG takes a 250 watt maximum blub.
What protects the bulb from a splash of water?
Thank you for your question. The Progress Lighting P6952TG is UL listed for damp locations so it is not necessarily designed to have water directly splashed onto it. The bulb itself fits flush against the trim so that water will not leak into the housing of the fixture.
Can this be safely used inside a shower stall even though its only damp rated instead of wet rated?
The Progress Lighting P6952TG is not recommended for use within a shower stall. It can however be installed in damp locations, meaning you could install it in the bathroom.
