How are the bulbs accessed when they need to be replaced?

Thank you for your question. The Progress Lighting P8008 has a spring on the trim that you press and it takes off the cover.

Can the 8008 be inserted into an already existing can light housing?

The Progress Lighting P8008 can be used with existing cans.
