2285 CFM Quiet Cool Whole House Exhaust Fan
This Quiet Cool 2250 Series fan is an innovative whole house fan that has none of the disadvantages of Type I and Type II fans. It's big advantage is that it is not mounted to the ceiling but instead is suspended in the attic with straps from the roof rafters. It's connected to an attractive ceiling grill with a patented acoustical insulated flexible duct, thus eliminating all vibration, rattle and noise in the house. It is so quiet in operation that it can be installed in a bedroom or sleeping room without a sleeping person being able to hear it.
This cleverly engineered system can be installed almost anywhere in a ceiling or vertical wall in less than 1/3 the time it takes to install a Type I or Type II whole house fan. It has a damper with insulated doors that prevents cold air intrusion in the wintertime. One QC-2250 performs better than one Type II whole house fan in all respects, but QC recommends that one QC-2250 be installed for each 750 Sq. ft. of living space (ideally one per bedroom) to obtain the cooling breeze of a Type I whole house fan. This also allows the cooling and ventilation to take affect even with the bedroom door closed as long as a window is open.
Quiet Cool fan systems are the best choice for homeowners based on energy savings, high quality, value, ability to move a large volume of air, ease of installation, aesthetic appearance, versatility, and above all, quiet operation.
Air Intake Grill Dimensions: 16" Width x 20" Length

Quiet AND cool!I did a lot of research on whole house fans before I settled on this one from QuietCool. Here are my thoughts after using it for a couple of weeks:
1. This thing is QUIET. I was a bit worried since it was being installed in the attic above our bedroom. Even when I'm standing under the vent, it sounds like a standard A/C unit in a house. When I'm in my bedroom (we installed the vent just outside our bedroom in the hallway), I can hardly hear it with the door open. When our door is closed, I can't hear it all if I'm watching TV.
2. SUPER easy to install. I'm about a 6/10 when it comes to being handy. I installed this in about 60-90 mins by myself. My neighbor helped me with the electrical and that took maybe another hour. Installed a timer switch. It's awesome.
3. I live in a very cool part of the country. It never gets above 85 even in the Summer, but my house gets lots of late sun and all the heat rises to our bedrooms on the top floor. I can't say how this would work in a place that gets above 100, but for my needs, it's perfect. It's clearing a space of 1000 square feet. At night when it's 50-60 outside, I kick this thing on for about 30 mins and our rooms are noticeably cooler.
Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase, and recommend it completely.

Exceeded my expectationsThe older house that I purchased had an exhaust fan to the attic that was so loud and vibrated so bad that I couldn't run it more than a few minutes at a time. I needed a fan that was quiet and that could cool the house off when I opened the windows. The portion of the house that I'm ventilating is about 1250 sq ft. I went with the larger fan with the option of adding a second smaller fan at the other end of the house if needed. The larger fan worked out great and I don't feel that the second fan will be necessary. I plan to build a workshop next to the house and will be using this fan in place of an additional air conditioning unit.

Great item at the right priceThe word QUIET in the name "Quiet Cool" is the key to success here. We wanted a whole-house fan but did not want a jet plane in the attic. The fan is indeed quiet and moves the air well. Delivery was very fast. We are very happy with the whole transaction.

Meh.I purchased the fan for a 1,080 sf house last year, just before winter. I was not overly impressed then by the performance, but figured it was too hot outside to really tell that it is making a difference. This year I have used it a few times in the early spring mild weather, and I am still not very impressed.
The good: It is very quiet, as advertised, and also very easy to install.
The bad: I am not convinced it moves the advertised amount of air. It feels like it moves just as much air as an oscillating room fan at 100 x the cost. Looking at it now, it is rated for a 1225 SF house (mine is less than 1100) but they recommend one per 750 SF (which one is it folks?).
I am less than impressed with the performance of the fan, but I do enjoy the quiet operation.
