Could you clarify something for me. Specs say a min of 5.125" opening is required, but it also states this is for a 9" cabinet. If my cabinet has a 9" opening will their be 2" on each side of dead space?

The Rev-A-Shelf 448-BC-5C itself is 5" in Width with the slides and mounting hardware installed it will be wider than the 5.125". That measurement is for the rack only.
