Elegant handles These are good looking, well designed hardware, like the rest of the Schlage line. The finish and shape are beautiful. I changed the whole house over to this design. August 1, 2010

Not what you see This image shows a semi-glossy item that has some bronze or gold color showing through the brown. This is not what you will get. They are flat in finish and a solid flat brown color. These are called the same thing you see at Lowes but they are not the same item. Bummed but they were VERY good with allowing me to return them and refunding my shipping. Great site, great company but product was not same as image. I will return again for my next project. June 17, 2010

Works with older Schlage Handles As usual, a great handle-set made by Schlage. I found that it is also compatible with older Schlage handle-sets that are not reversible. I had a brass set that I wanted to change to chrome on one side. The chrome reversible set that I ordered bolted right in. May 3, 2010

Great service, improved handle I installed this handleset as a replacement for one that wore out in a 6 year-old house. The construction of this Schlage lock seems to be more solid now. I like the fact that the redesign allows the same lock to work on eather left or right-hinged doors and with the lock on either side of the door. The service from handlesets.com was top notch. With their same-key keying service, replacing a homes locks is much easier. At brick & mortar resellers you'll never find all the locks you need with the same key-code. February 21, 2010

Will it automatically unlock if door is in open position lock is on and then door is closed?

The door would not be able to close as the latch would still be engaged. You would have to unlock it before closing.

will this work on french door and if so, do we need to order 2 units?

The Schlage F40-FLA is not recommended to secure a french door as there is a hole on the outside portion that can be used to unlock it. I would recommend using a f51 keyed entry on one side and two f170 dummies on the opposite side.

Does this come with a turn button or push button lock?

The Schlage F40-FLA has a push button lock.
