Schlage F40-LAT Reviews

great and fast servicegreat product. the only thing that I don't like abou it is that you have to push the lever all the way down like almost 270 degrees or 6 oclock on the clock to open the door i would like them to work a little bit earlier so you don't have to push them all the way down.

Best design for the jobI just remolded my home and replaced all doors and looked for handlesets locally. Due the the cost for something that was comparable, I went on-line. When I found this Schlage handle set, because of the quality and warranty that Schlage offers and the price, this handle set was exactly what I was looking for. I purchased privacy, passage and dummy sets. They were super easy to install and look and work great. I absolutly recommend this product to everyone. I have given several of my friends Handlesets.com website so they can purchase products.

Difficult to Open DoorLike a previous reviewer said, this lever handle is difficult to use--you literally have to turn the handle a full 90 degrees (perpendicular to floor) in order to open the door -- really a strain on your wrist. The look is only so-so. I purchased it ONLY because Schlage is able to accommodate a 5"+ inset. This is not the cheapest modern handle out there. Try Sure-Loc "Juneau" -- beautiful, reasonably priced, and truly modern.

Great Look and PriceI'm very pleased with the levers - it's nearly impossible to find a modern handle set at a reasonable price. These came super fast.

Exactly what I wantedI ordered 13 of these handles. I ordered the satin nickel finish, it is a true satin nickel finish and they look great on my doors. The handle is solid and has a contempory sleek look. The handle install was easy and took about 10 minutes. I am very pleased with this product and price.
Does this set include 2 handles for both sides of the door?
A. The Schlage F40-LAT does come with both an interior and exterior lever.
How does this lock and unlock?
A. The Schlage F40-LAT is a privacy latch that locks on the inside with a thumb turn.
What kind of locking mechanism does this product have on the inside of the door?
A. The Schlage F40-LAT has a push-button locking mechanism.
What is a door latch and what are the differences between the three that are offered for this product? How do I know what type of door latch to order? Thanks.
A. A door latch is the tubular "tongue" mechanism that engages the doors jamb to prevent open/closing of the door without turning the handle. For your faceplate, look at the groove cut into the edge of the door for the faceplate. If it has rounded corners, you will need a round corner latch. Similarly, square corners on your groove will need a square corner latch. If there is no groove, you need a drive-in latch that does not come with a faceplate at all.
Does this come with the little plate that fits in the frame?
A. The Schlage F40-LAT is a complete and working handle set.
In case of emergency, can it open from the outside?
A. The Schlage F40-LAT has a pin hole for exterior opening.
to use for a bathroom door, locking, do you have to order 2 handles?
A. The Schlage F40-LAT is a privacy set and comes with both handles.
What is the drive in latch type? How is it different from the square one?
A. The "drive-in" latch type is just the latch without the square faceplate around it. The Drive-In is only used on doors that do not have anything bored for the faceplates. If you go to the home page of Handlesets.com, go to "Learn More" on the banner, and select "Door Hardware 101", you will see pictures of the three latch types. There is also other useful information about door hardware.
